KARLSTAD, Sweden — The coffee roaster Löfbergs is being praised for its sustainability work once again. The company has received the Sustainability Award, an award given by Nordic Choice Hotels. Eva Eriksson, quality and sustainability director at Löfbergs, thinks it is especially great to be acknowledged by the company’s own customers.
– It is an acknowledgement that we are successful in our ambition to develop our sustainability work together with others. It leads to more people doing even more to meet the challenges that we and the industry are facing, says Eva Eriksson, quality and sustainability director at Löfbergs.
Nordic Choice Hotels is one of the largest hotel groups in the Nordic and Baltic region with 190 hotels. The company has worked together with Löfbergs for many years. The focus has always been on sustainability. Besides organic and Fairtrade labelled coffee, the cooperation has focused on climate compensation and joint development projects in producing countries.
Climate-smart packaging
New sustainable packaging, focus on the next generation of coffee farmers and active cooperation in the sustainability area; these are the main reasons why Löfbergs receives the Sustainability Award.
– I am especially happy that our work with climate-smart packaging is being mentioned. We have just started phasing out the fossil plastic, and we will only use recycled or renewable material in our packaging by 2030, says Eva Eriksson.
The Sustainability Award was presented at Nordic Choice Hotels’ big winter conference in Stockholm. Löfbergs was also the winner of the Food & Beverage Supplier of the Year Norway category.
