HANOI, Vietnam – Olam Vietnam Limited (“Olam Vietnam”), a subsidiary of Olam International, continues to be recognised as one of Vietnam’s best companies to work for, as it invests in its people to create a motivated and skilled workforce.

For a second year running, Olam Vietnam was named Kincentric Best Employer in Vietnam. It was also feted as one of the country’s best employers by HR Asia Magazine in 2018 and 2019.

Amit Verma, Country Head, Olam Vietnam, said, “We are honoured to once again receive this accolade. Our people have been key to our success in Vietnam over the past two decades and we are constantly seeking ways to better engage and partner them to live out our Purpose of Re-imagining Global Agriculture and Food Systems.

In these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, our priority as an employer is to put their safety, health and livelihoods first, even as we keep agri-food supplies arriving at tables globally.”

Among the many employee-focused initiatives over the past year by Olam Vietnam included:

  • Initiating an Integrated Talent Management and Development programme that consolidates the key people processes on learning and development, and performance management for more effective talent grooming
  • Ramping up the focus on employee communication through digital platforms to better engage the large employee base of 5,000 people working across multiple locations
  • Creating an environment of openness and belonging while driving ideas for improving the business through its Re-imagineers1. More than 20 Re-imagineers across functions led brainstorms with some 1,400 employees of all levels – one of the resulting ideas is now sponsored by the Group’s core operational leadership team

“Our people are the architects of Olam’s ongoing success and future. By committing to having the right people in the right roles, fostering an inclusive and engaging workplace, and prioritising talent development, we have been able to attract and retain the talent we need to deliver our strategy in the region,” said Naveen Chhabra, Regional Head of Human Resources, Southeast Asia & China, Olam International.

Efforts like these on building a highly engaged and inspired organisation were all contributing factors in Olam Vietnam receiving the Kincentric Best Employer in Vietnam 2020.

Previously known as the Aon Best Employers global certification, Kincentric’s programme recognises companies that strive to continuously inspire their people, spark change and accelerate business success.
