MILAN – The evolution of the coffee sector undoubtedly passes through new tools at the service of operators: to facilitate their work of analysis, selection and evaluation, an accessory presented at the World of Coffee in Dubai, is the Omix by DiFluid, a company founded by Linus Peng.
Omix, winner of the IF DESIGN AWARD 2025, is a machine capable of controlling several parameters in one:
Water activity, moisture content, mesh, density, roasting degree, temperature, altitude and expansion rate. Omix can collect all this data and then process it quickly (less than a minute) into accurate results.
Coffee analysis methods to date often involve multiple devices and time-consuming processes, but Omix simplifies them and reduces the possibility of errors.
Precision and speed are essential when it comes to quality in coffee. Everyone along the supply chain, from the farmer (Omix provides information that helps optimise post-harvest processes) to the roaster (enables precise profile setting) to the barista (enables better adjustment of grinding and extraction efficiency), can benefit from this single solution that integrates different processes and enables more informed business decisions.
Power and portability
In fact, Omix, while taking care of so many tasks in a single tool, weighs only 800 grams, which makes it particularly portable (an appreciable quality for those who are always travelling from one part of the world to another in search of new coffee).
How does Omix work?
Through a mix of sensors and algorithms, samples are analysed automatically without the need to specify the type of sample entered. Omix is able to evaluate data from coffee cherries, dry cherries, parchment, green and roasted, whole beans and ground coffee.
Omix uses the Chilled-Mirror-Dew-Point method to accurately measure water activity in less than 30 seconds.
All at a cost of $1,899.00 (it can be purchased on the DiFluid website).
