Lavazza’s partnership with the French Open will continue until at least 2019 following a new in the agreement between the two organisations.

The Italian company first became an official supplier of the grand slam tournament back in 2015. Over a three-year period, an estimated 370 Lavazza machines have been installed on the grounds of Roland Garros.

On Monday it was announced that the deal have been extended during a special media event hosted at Roland Garros. In attendance was Lavazza vice-president Giuseppe Lavazza and French Open director Guy Forget.

“The contract with the French major has been renewed for two years until 2019.” Said Lavazza.

“In Italy we have a 600 million turnover, 450 million in France. In France, where Lavazza is associated with Carte Noire, we are growing more. There are 150 Lavazza employees and about 115,000 customers (among various public establishments). As for the Roland Garros, last year we distributed 400,000 cups of coffee and cappuccino. There are 70 points of delivery and 500 coffee machines.”

Lavazza has a history of working with the world of tennis. The business has also established deals with the US Open and Wimbledon. Based in Turin, the company ended 2017 with a net profit of 4.7 million euros. The CEO, Antonio Baravalle, has previously told Italian newspaper La Stampa that Lavazza is targeting a turnover of over 2 billion euros by 2020.

“We and Lavazza have a common vision, we carry dreams and, in our journey, we distribute strong emotions.” Said French Open chief Forget.

“The new Roland Garros aims for excellence and, therefore, human and financial efforts are needed. We must win all together and I think that even after 2019 we will be happy to continue in this partnership .”
