HELSINKI, Finland – Paulig ‘s goal is to be a sustainable frontrunner in the food industry. One of the focus areas of the company’s ambitious Sustainability Approach is a fair and inclusive way of working. Helping disadvantaged children, young people and families in Finland and around the world is strongly linked to the objectives of the Sustainability Approach.

Paulig has been the main partner of SOS Children’s Village since 2019 and both parties are committed to the same values and long-term operations.

SOS Children’s Village is an international child welfare organisation promoting the rights of children. Our goal is for every child and young person to receive the support they need to reach their full potential. We are a non-profit child welfare expert and service provider. We offer help and high-quality services to municipalities and families.

In the future, Paulig will support the development of a new kind of Läksyapu service in Finland. According to the SOS Children’s Village, young people dropping out of school has become a serious social problem after a prolonged pandemic. The Läksyapu service is being developed to help young people, especially those in vulnerable situations, on their school path. During 2022, an operating model will be developed that best serves young people and supports them in their homework. During the period 2023–2024, the operations will become nationwide.

Paulig will also continue to support the Apuu chat. It is a chat service where children can seek help if they feel unsafe or threatened. Child welfare professionals and trained on-call workers help children every day and ensure they have access to help. Approximately 100 children seek help through the service every day.

“Our sustainability work is for the long term, and that is why it is important that we continue our good cooperation with SOS Children’s Village in Finland. Supporting children and young people has positive and long-term impacts on society at multiple levels. Paulig is an international company and in addition to this cooperation, we improve the well-being of families in the countries of origin of our raw materials through other partnerships,” says Lea Rankinen, Paulig’s Sustainability and Public Affairs Director.

SOS Children’s Village helps the most vulnerable children and young people and increases the well-being of families with children. Long-term cooperation with companies is particularly important for the child welfare organisation.

“We are extremely grateful to be able to continue our concrete and effective cooperation, based on shared values, for the well-being of future generations. Our previous successful cooperation, in which we focused on expanding support family activities, is a good starting point for the new three-year main partnership with Paulig,” says Annemi Usva-Vänttinen, Corporate Partnerships Manager at SOS Children’s Village.
