A range of wholebean, roast and ground coffees from Pelican Rouge Coffee Roasters B.V has been awarded the Best New Idea accolade at this year’s National Convenience Show, held in Birmingham April 18-20.
The award was presented to Steven May, International Sales Manager, Pelican Rouge by David Rees, editor of Convenience Store Magazine.
Speaking at the ceremony, May said: “NCS 2016 has given Pelican Rouge the perfect launch pad for the new Blends and Pod range.
We’ve had an amazing opportunity to speak to retailers about a quality premium coffee offering which gives them a really good margin at an attractive consumer price point.
Winning Great New Idea has topped off what has been a brilliant week for Pelican Rouge at the National Convenience Show – we can’t wait to come back next year!”
The Great New Idea competition, which invited exhibitors to put forward their best innovations of the last six months, saw over 30 entries, with the winner announced at a ceremony at the NEC during the show.
A shortlist of three finalists was chosen, voted for by visitors to the show, as well as other members of the industry, ahead of the event.
Recognised at the event alongside Pelican Rouge Coffee Roasters B.V, exhibitors eXpresso Plus and Haagen-Dazs were announced as runners up.
eXpresso Plus was acknowledged for its Lavazza Eleganza vending machine which offers a complete hot drinks menu, while Haagen-Dazs was recognised for its new Stick Bars available exclusively for the convenience channel.
