MANILA, Philippines – Coffee production in dried berries in the Philippines decreased by 6.3 percent in April to June 2019, from 6.48 thousand metric tons in the same-quarter of 2018 to 6.07 thousand metric tons, reports the Phlippine Statistics Authority.
Soccsksargen was the major coffee-producing region with 2.10 thousand metric tons, contributing 34.5 percent to the total output. This was followed by Davao Region with 21.7 percent and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) with 20.3 percent share.
During the period, Robusta coffee contributed 3.60 thousand metric tons or 59.3 percent to the total coffee production.
This was followed by Arabica with 26.9 percent, and Excelsa, 13.1 percent. Liberica type was the least produced with 0.7 percent share to total.
