PHILIPPINES – DA and DTI to host first Coffee Conference in Baguio City

BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera Administrative Region is all set to host a National Conference on coffee as a value laden industry that has a wide scope of business opportunities and investment potentials.

Coffee growers, brewers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders whose business interest deals with the production and marketing of the popular drink will convene in Baguio City at the Hotel Supreme Convention Hall for a two-day conference on November 5 and 6.

With the theme “Gold in Coffee: A Brewing Success”, the Philippine Coffee Conference is set to gather around 500 coffee participants from all over the country.

The first of its kind Coffee Conference to be held at the country’s summer capital, it provides a venue to discuss the latest developments including milestones, plans and programs in the coffee industry.

The conference also aims to impart best practices, industry knowledge and present new market opportunities for domestic and export of Philippine coffee.

The Conference will also showcase the Coffee Industry Book Launching, the Coffee Value Chain Exhibit and Techno Demonstration.

The Business Forum on the second day will feature suggested ways to set up a coffee shop / store business to interested participants with the topics “Franchising a Coffee Business, A Must-show Experience” and “Starting a Small Café”

Likewise, the event will also allow participants to appreciate some existing coffee production and processing facilities during the project visit and enjoy popular tourist destinations during the city tour after the event.

Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the coffee conference expects to boost public and private partnership among key players of the industry and generate more support in the promotion of coffee as a food and gourmet industry.
