SAN FRANCISCO, U.S. — Silicon Valley startup Pooki’s Mahi® announced today it added 100% Kona KaKao coffee in bio-based pods in a limited release to their famous 100% Kona coffee product line giving customers an option to enjoy coffee with naturally flavored mocha, cacao and chocolate tastes.

Pooki’s Mahi Founder/CEO Leslie Magsalay-Zeller explains, “100% Kona coffee is one of the most expensive single-origin coffees in the world. I’ve been designing Pooki’s Mahi new line of 100% Kona coffee with natural mocha and chocolate flavors. I’m not interested in blending or infusing flavors into 100% Kona coffee pods, or working with Kona coffee farmers that lack the organic certification.”

The high tech executive explains, “Customers drinking 100% Kona coffee have specific taste profiles. Avid Kona coffee drinkers can tell the difference between Kona blend or 100% Kona coffee. Customers new to drinking specialty coffee or do not drink 100% Kona coffee regularly are not able to distinguish the differences between coffee beans from Kona, Hawaii or other parts of the word. Pooki’s Mahi Kona coffee pods are not a fit for customers that cannot afford to pay market prices for 100% Kona coffee pods. Customers looking for cheap Kona coffee lack the disposable income to afford authentic 100% Kona coffee; these type of customers will purchase fraudulent, counterfeit or Kona coffee blends believing they purchased 100% Kona coffee.”

“Pooki’s Mahi has rigorous process qualifying Kona green coffee bean suppliers. I value green coffee suppliers that use technology to conduct business online, consistently deliver, easy to collaborate and do not hound Pooki’s Mahi for large orders. Our coffee subscription and wholesale coffee club customers expect the taste of Kona coffee to match the high Kona coffee prices. Pooki’s Mahi offers the best Kona coffee prices with standard shipping included,” continues the Silicon Valley startup executive.

Pricing for Pooki’s Mahi Kona KaKao™ coffee pods is equivalent to Pooki’s Mahi Peaberry Kona coffee pods. The Silicon Valley firm launched Pooki’s Mahi Kona KaKao coffee pods in limited release in July 2018 to obtain feedback from existing VIP customers. Feedback from Kona coffee subscribers was incorporated in a new Kona KaKao coffee capsules launching in 2019.

Pooki’s Mahi Kona KaKao is available as a limited release to coffee subscribers, wholesale coffee club customers and to select foodservice customers. The exclusive 100% Kona coffee beans will be replenished as part of the new capsule design.

Pooki’s Mahi Kona KaKao™ is part of the new Koffee KaKao coffee single serve pods that pairs well with chocolate, mocha, and cacao. Pooki’s Mahi® does not add flavors to alter the naturally flavored 100% Kona coffee beans. Pooki’s Mahi Kona KaKao is more fruity, sweet, have a muted acidity with slightly more body.

Pooki’s Mahi goal for Kona KaKao is to introduce unblended 100% single-origin coffees that have strong cacao, chocolate or mocha taste delivered in a single serve recyclable coffee pod or capsules.

Kona KaKao coffee pods are just as rare as Pooki’s Mahi Peaberry Kona coffee because the drying process in the sun takes longer for the sweetness and fruit flavors to infuse with the Kona coffee cherries. Pooki’s Mahi Kona KaKao coffee capsules are made from 100% Kona coffee, Extra Fancy or Peaberry coffee beans naturally dried from Kona, Big Island.

Kona coffee beans dried while in the coffee skin. Proprietary grind and roasting bring out the natural mocha and chocolate flavors. Currently, Pooki’s Mahi 100% Kona KaKao coffee is roasted and injected into a bio-based pod with mesh netting. Pooki’s Mahi Kona KaKao coffee pods are 100% recyclable and work in most 1.0, and 2.0 single serve coffee makers. Nutrition information, California Prop 65 and Kona coffee product information listed on the packaging label.
