SAN FRANCISCO, CA, U.S. – Silicon Valley startup Pooki’s Mahi announced yesterday it will launch a new product line, 100% Koffee KaKao single serve coffee pods to top performing retailers; customers can pair single-origin specialty coffees with chocolate, mocha and cacao. Price sensitive customers can purchase expensive coffees without breaking the budget.
Pooki’s Mahi Founder/CEO Les Magsalay-Zeller explains, “Pooki’s Mahi coffee subscription and wholesale coffee club customers requested luxury coffees that pairs well with chocolate and mocha in single serve coffee pods priced similarly to 100% Kona coffee pods. Customers did not want flavored specialty coffees. I reviewed more than five years of customer data and supply chain metrics from various coffee green suppliers. The initial RFP (Request For Proposal) tested Pooki’s Mahi supply chain capabilities. More than 50 green coffee suppliers were reviewed for their supply chain, technology platforms used, and operations capabilities.”
“Over one year was spent testing coffees from the final three suppliers. Coffees were selected for Koffee KaKao product line in 2017. Pooki’s Mahi goal for Koffee KaKao is to introduce unblended, expensive best tasting coffees in a mesh single serve coffee pods. I selected 100% single-origin coffees that had a strong cacao, chocolate or mocha taste and was readily available. Price sensitive customers can purchase Koffee KaKao coffee pods without breaking the budget,” the Silicon Valley tech executive continued.
The Silicon Valley technology firm took an analytical approach in introducing new product line to its repeat customers.
Pooki’s Mahi Founder/CEO Les Magsalay-Zeller testing existing supply chain processes and robustness to select high value coffee beans for the new Koffee KaKao product line. Pooki’s Mahi Koffee KaKao single serve coffee pods are made from 100% single-origin coffee beans. The coffee beans were picked on how well each paired with chocolate, cacao and mocha. Pooki’s Mahi green bean coffee suppliers sourced coffee beans directly from coffee farms in South America, Africa and Central America through direct trade relationships.
Pooki’s Mahi Koffee KaKao coffees will be sold as a variety pack. Koffee KaKao variety will have 24 single serve coffee pods. Six each of KaKao Brazil, KaKao Extra Fancy, KaKao Mokka, and KaKao Peaberry coffee pods. Each Koffee KaKao coffee pod represents specialty coffee from a specific region or coffee bean. For example, KaKao Extra Fancy coffee pods are made from coffee beans sourced from Africa. KaKao Peaberry are made from rare Peaberry coffee beans.
