The participants in the auction for the Cup of Excellence Honduras 2016 paid $120.5 per pound for the coffee from the winning farm called El Puente Kasai Coffee. Maruyama Coffee & Toa Coffee, who took second place, fetched a price of $120.10 per pound from the farm El Puente.

Laprensa.hn reports that “…The 23 participating coffee growers had hoped to surpass last year’s edition, but never imagined that everyone would walk away satisfied with an average price of $10 per pound of coffee.
The event was held in the experimental center of Ihcafé located in La Fe, Peña Blanca. ”
Nestor Meneses, coordinator of the Cup of Excellence and technical assistant at the Honduran Coffee Institute (Ihcafé), said “…”We hope to be an incentive for other producers. We still have auctions to go in Guatemala and Costa Rica which will be held next week and we will have to wait and see what the results are’.”
