SYDNEY – The second annual International Grand Latte Art Championship will be held on Friday August 19th in Sydney at Chatswood‘s Victoria Bar & Grill from 5pm-9pm.
Hosted by Danes Specialty Coffee, the event will see the region’s top baristas showcasing their artistic flair and competing for the title of top latte artist. Sponsored by Riverina Milk and SanRemo Australia, the competition features a prize pool worth over $10,000.
“Australian baristas are a truly talented and creative group. Latte art celebrates the creative side of the industry, as well as the fact that milk-based coffees continue to be a popular choice amongst specialty coffee drinkers,” said Paul Jackson, Danes Specialty Coffee Managing Director.
Defending champion Sam Taylor will compete against other talented coffee artists. This year’s judging panel reads like a who’s who of the coffee-making world: The 2015 NSW State Latte Art Champion Jibbi Little, the legendary Sean McManus, and popular Instagram barista Timothy Sweet will decide who comes out on top.
The event boasts a generous prize pool:1st place prize of $3500, 2nd place $1500 and 3rd $500 in cash and a share in over $5,000 worth of SCAA classes, WFS water filter, Cafetto products and more. All door proceeds are to be donated to Hope Global (http://www.hope-global.org).
