MILAN, Italy – In an effort to support coffee producers, cooperatives, exporters, importers and roasters reconnect with each other, the SCA is launching the Green Coffee Buyers and Sellers Program at World of Coffee Milan, June 23-25, 2022.
After two years of pandemic, many green coffee buyers and sellers struggle to connect with each other, as in-person opportunities for trips to origin and trade shows have dramatically declined.
“In 2021, we heard from buyers and sellers of green coffee that the COVID-19 pandemic had made it difficult to start new relationships” say the organisers.
“They perceived in-person discussion as an invaluable part of building sustainable trading partnerships, and they expressed eagerness to engage with each other, despite possible language and cultural barriers, much less the challenges of a pandemic.”
SCA Green Coffee Buyers & Sellers Program: How it works
The Green Coffee Buyers & Sellers Program is a resource that is available to registered World of Coffee attendees free of charge thanks to generous support from the sponsor, Barista Attitude.
The Green Coffee Buyers & Sellers Program will function through the World of Coffee mobile app. Green coffee buyers and sellers will have the opportunity to opt in, register for the program, and create a profile. Program participants will be able to contact each other through to app and set up in-person meetings during World of Coffee.
Meeting rooms will be available throughout for 20-minute slot meetings; alternatively, buyers and sellers will be able to set up a meeting at different location of their choice.
During these meetings, buyers and sellers will be able to get to know each other and hand coffee samples to buyers.
