SCAA EXPOSITION – Indonesian coffee gains almost US$6.5 million from U.S. business players

JAKARTA, Indonesia – Indonesia seems to deserve new predicate as “world’s coffee heaven” given by the U.S. coffee lovers.

This has been proven by the U.S. business players’ enthusiasm in buying Indonesia’s coffee.

The coffee business players from the United States, Latin America, and South America, vigorously bought special coffee from Indonesia as shown in the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA0 on 9-12 April 2015 at the Washington State Convention Center, Seattle, U.S with the total transaction values almost reached US$6,5 million.

“The transaction values estimation is quite exhilarating. We hope there would be more continuous transactions,” told Made Marthini, the Indonesian Trade Attache in Washington D.C., in a press release received on Wednesday (4/15/2015).

Indonesia, Made said, introduced various coffee products, the highest transaction made by green bean.

Other coffee variants such as biscuits and candies from coffee, 3-in-one mix coffee, roasted and grinded coffee, as well as cold brew coffee also gained recognition from the Latin and South American buyers.

“Other than buying coffee from East Java, the Colombian and Mexican buyers also bought biscuits with coffee flavor considered fit to the country’s taste,” said Made.

The buyers were also interested in products related to food services such as paper cups for hot coffee, instant coffee, tea, and coffee leaf.
