RIMINI, Italy – It will be another SIGEP with an international flavour. From today to 25th January 2017, IEG (International Exhibition Group, the company formed on 1st November with the merger between Rimini Fiera and Fiera di Vicenza) expects over 40,000 trade members from 170 countries for the world´s leading expo for the artisan gelato, pastry, bakery and coffee product chains.

On 1st December, the new version of the Web platform in eight languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Chinese and Turkish) is online, enabling exhibitors and buyers to schedule an agenda of meetings that will then be held at the expo, directly on exhibitors´ stands.

The IEG IT department´s staff has realized a new system that further facilitates the preparation of the meeting agenda, as it is mobile responsive, able to suggest matches, speeding up the search for interlocutors, user-friendly and able to announce upcoming appointments with an e-mail, ensuring exhibitors and buyers a constantly updated situation. Over 500 specialized buyers from 62 countries are already accredited on the platform.

The traditional countries of origin of international trade members are Spain, Germany, France, Greece and Great Britain. 64% of the visitors come from countries in the European Union, 13% from non-EU countries, 11% from Asia, 5% from Africa and 1% from Oceania.

For SIGEP and AB TECH EXPO, the next edition will be particularly focussed on Asia, USA, the Middle East and Germany.

On the pastry front, even closer attention is being paid to the markets and demand in the Balkans, Central and South America, as well as India.

This attention results in the participation of buyers, trade members and business delegations, also in collaboration with ICE, the Agency for foreign promotion and internationalization of Italian enterprises – as part of the program for strengthening Italy´s large trade fair events, foreseen by the Italian government´s special plan for the promotion of Italian-made products – which involves 18 ICE offices worldwide.

More and more coffee at Sigep

Coffee has been officially included in the expo´s name. Only SIGEP manages to propose such a complete range of contests, with all seven barista championships dedicated to coffee and valid for the international circuit of World Coffee Events.

At Fiera di Rimini, dozens of baristas selected from all over Italy will compete for the titles at the Italian Barista Championship, Italian Latte Art Championship, Italian Coffee In Good Spirits Championship, Italian Brewers Cup Championship, Italian Cup Tasting Championship, Italian Ibrik Championship and Italian Coffee Roasting Championship.

Two areas will be fitted out for the championships, in the South Foyer and Hall D1, and both will have live streaming broadcast coverage: the spotlight will be on the Italian finals of the various speciality contests dedicated to the coffee world, to designate the 7 winners who will represent Italy worldwide.

These are the most eagerly awaited contests on the prestigious international World Coffee Events circuit.

Moreover, every day at SIGEP, in the Brew Bar & Espresso Bar area (Hall D1) it will be possible to taste espresso coffee and coffees made using pourover, chemex, aeropress and French press systems, which correspond to the respective instruments used to prepare the extremely popular beverage.

Meetings and conferences are also scheduled with the international Coffee Community´s opinion leaders.

SIGEP 2017 will also host the announcement of the country hosting the next edition of Barista & Farmer, the first talent show dedicated to the promotion of the culture of excellent coffee.
