RIMINI – In the Start-Up Area in Hall A7 at Rimini Expo Centre (from 21st to 25th January), Sigep – The Dolce World Expo will offer a study path among the most innovative companies in the food sector by presenting seven start-ups to investors and companies.

The companies, selected by Italian Exhibition Group in collaboration with ITA-Italian Trade Agency, which promotes the internationalisation of Italian companies, can therefore count on their own special space, conceived to offer the widest visibility as authoritative interlocutors in the development of products for the national and international artisan dolce food service industry, at the same time encouraging the sharing of know-how, technologies, stimuli and intuitions.

Start-up at Sigep

Innovation and research geared towards providing effective answers to the new challenges that the out- of-home sector puts forward in terms of products and ingredients, services and digitalisation solutions and, of course, sustainability: these are the main areas in which the start-ups selected to be part of the most innovative exhibition area at Sigep 2023 operate.

Starting with nutrition, Nutras, from Macerata, Italy, will be presenting Lactosolution, a supplement for digesting lactose, distributed in single-dose packs and sold individually. This is a patented product designed specifically for the horeca world.

A single tablet, marketable directly at pastry shops or gelato parlours, allows lactose-intolerant customers to safely enjoy products containing lactose and owners to offer an innovative service, eliminate lactose-free products and increase average takings.

Sustainability

Sustainability, on the other hand, is the focus of Compopack, a company based in Ozzano dell’Emilia, that has developed Ecopod, a sustainable solution to use in the production of the three types of pods and capsules on the market. It improves coffee-roasting factory machinery by using existing and new- generation biodegradable materials, thus producing minimal waste during processing.

The activities of Biosource, an Ancona-based company, are in keeping with environmentally friendly initiatives. Through Quaba, founded as a benefit company, it aims to improve water consumption with business-to-business solutions for producing filtered, cold, still and sparkling water, directly at the point of consumption (at home, in the office or at the restaurant) in order to do away with plastic bottles.

Brokerage consultancy

Going on to start-ups that provide services for out-of-home operators, Lokky stands out for its insurance brokerage consultancy, which is completely digital and available to small businesses, professionals and freelancers.

It uses innovative technologies in the field of smart analytics, machine learning and data enrichment and its proprietary algorithm allows the Milan-based company to offer clients only relevant and customised cover and to protect professional activities, assets, clients and collaborators, without unnecessary costs.

Based in Lombardy’s capital city, AiGot focuses on the development, production and marketing of software for automation, machine learning and the use of artificial intelligence. With Restaurants Club, it proposes an AI-based marketing tool that allows restaurateurs to update their communication and marketing in a simple and effective way thanks to a platform that groups together all the tools for creating awareness on the web and managing and retaining a solid customer base.

Digitalising and simplifying payments are at the core business of Easylivery, a Milan-based start-up that uses technology based on QR codes to manage orders and payments directly from consumers’ smartphone, with a fiscal cash function that automatically sends receipts to the Italian Tax Authority.

Qodeup, from Brescia, is also proposing a solution based on QR codes to pay for food and drinks at restaurants in a few seconds by scanning the bill, with direct credit from a smartphone. An extremely useful tool for optimising table turnover, increasing average takings and improving the restaurant team’s organisation.

Sigep will be accompanied by the seventh edition of AB Tech Expo, the international exhibition of technologies and products for bakery, pastry and confectionery.
