BELFORTE DEL CHIENTI, Italy — “The first edition of the Simonelli Youth Academy is about to finish successfully. This program was started by Simonelli Academy in 2018 for young and promising baristas who love coffee and who wish to deepen their skills.
Starting form today to October 11 the eight young baristas selected last spring have their third and last (for this year) full-immersion course. This will happen in Simonelli Group classrooms and laboratories in Belforte del Chienti.
At the beginning of the year, the company awarded scholarships for young people between 18 and 30 to enable them to obtain, without fees, the Specialty Coffee Association Sca Coffee Skills Program.
This third session of the course will cover the highest level, “professional barista”. The two sessions in spring and summer were devoted to the basics and covered green coffee, roasting, filter coffee and the intermediate barista level.
“The courses offered by Simonelli Youth Academy – says Dario Ciarlantini, coordinator of the project and teacher – have been keenly attended by the eight young scholarship winners. All of them have been strongly motivated to improve their knowledge and their willingness to take on the profession at the highest levels”.
Lauro Fioretti, head of the training program, emphasizes how Simonelli Youth Academy offers the right path to a full education for young people who want to become professional expert baristas because the theoretical and practical lessons transversely covered all the issues related to coffee.
