SINGAPORE – Two coffee shops in Singapore had a robotics and digital makeover at the weekend. In response to Singapore’s Food Services Industry Transformation Map – which includes a call for ‘productive coffee shops’ that use technology to fill positions left vacant due to a lack of manpower – two smart coffee shops have been unveiled.
The coffee shop initiative, managed by economic development body, SPRING and Singapore’s Housing & Development Board, asked for cafe proposals that championed ‘manpower-lean formats’ at sites in Tampines and Choa Chu Kang. FoodTastic is now operating in Choa Chu Kang.
Part of the Chang Cheng Group, it has robots to clean up and collect trays. In Tampines, Happy Hawkers – from Koufu, also has robots to pick up trays and self-ordering screens, among other tech innovations.
