SCAE organised a Grow it Forward charity appeal, along with coffee shops and cafes across Europe, in order to raise money for the less fortunate coffee farmers.
Participants committed themselves to donate 10 cents for every coffee and coffee based drink sold throughout the week of 27 October – 2 November 2014.
“We at SCAE strive towards conducting our social responsibility programme and in doing as much good as we can – says the Association in a press release – “Drink good coffee, do good work!” is our motto when addressing these issues. SCAE has a partnership with Coffee Kids, as part of the Grow it Forward programme, because we consider food is important. Food security is the very foundation upon which any discussion of quality of life is built. As Confucius once said, “give a bowl of rice to a man and you will feed him for a day. Teach him how to grow his own rice and you will save his life.”
This year’s campaign seeks to raise funds to support food security for coffee farmers across Central America, in order to reintroduce ancestral farming knowledge, combined with new agro ecological techniques, ensure adequate supplies of fresh, local food to minimize dependency on external food sources.
The generous donors are as follows: Coffeethek Germany, Kivu Speciality Coffee Cyprus, Dominik Urbanski, Kaffeemaschinen Shop Epp AG Switzerland, Tucano Coffee Romania, Dolce Bacio Romania.
