LONDON, UK – SSP Group, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, has announced that it has acquired rights to develop the PRET franchise in German-speaking Switzerland. As part of the deal, SSP will take over operations of three additional PRET stores on top of its existing portfolio in the busy locations of Löwenstrasse, Rennweg and Zurich’s main railway station.

The move strengthens SSP’s aspirations to further expand the brand in German-speaking Switzerland.

SSP opened its first PRET in Switzerland in Summer 2019 and currently operates five stores at Zurich Airport, with more openings planned, which will focus on quality, high-footfall locations.

Jeremy Fennell, CEO SSP Nordics and Continental Europe, said; “We have been successfully running PRET outlets in Zurich for the past four years, so we’re delighted to build on our presence with this new deal.

We have plans to grow the brand in German-speaking Switzerland, primarily across rail stations and other prime locations. I’m very proud of the SSP team in Switzerland, which has consistently delivered an outstanding customer experience, focussed on quality products and great service.”

Stéphane Klein, Managing Director PRET Europe, stressed the importance of the close partnership with SSP for further growth in the region; “SSP has supported our expansion strategy in German-speaking Switzerland very sucessfully.

The PRET brand is a perfect fit for the Swiss F&B market, and meets the demands of Swiss customers for premium quality, freshness and original take-away offers. PRET stores also offer our guests an exceptional quality experience at busy locations, encouraging them to linger at any time of the day.”

The new stores will welcome customers from early morning until late in the evening, and will serve food and drinks ideally suited to the travelling customer. Delivery services to local offices and residential areas are planned.
