Seeking to perk up its business, Starbucks Coffee Japan is leasing office-use machines, report local media.
The move is aimed at promoting Starbucks brand and face competition from convenience stores that are aggressively selling espresso beverages at friendly prices.
Starbucks Coffee Japan’s barista machines have already been used in offices of five companies.
The machine can make 20 kinds of drinks using Arabica coffee beans of the same quality as those used at Starbuck’s stores.
The machine will be leased to a business for a fee. Coffee beans and paper cups will also be available for purchase, local sources said
The price of a cup of coffee will be left up to each company. Starbucks Coffee Japan said it plans to lease 500 machines over five years.
