New sustainability verification for companies and organizations was introduced last month. The coffee roaster Löfbergs was first in Sweden to receive the verification.

– It is great to be recognized for our sustainability work in this way. The verification is an acknowledgement that our efforts contribute to a more sustainable future, says Eva Eriksson, Sustainability Manager at Löfbergs.

The new sustainability verification is a cooperation between the sustainability tool Worldfavor and the certification body SP. The company’s commitment and work concerning the ISO 26000 standard are evaluated for this verification.

ISO 26000 is an international standard for social responsibility. The standard describes how a company or an organization can contribute to a sustainable future. ISO 26000 provides guidance rather than requirements and cannot be certified to.

Responsibility from bean to cup

Löfbergs was founded in 1906 and is one of the largest family-owned coffee roasters in the Nordic countries. The company’s sustainability work involves the entire value chain, from bean to cup.

Coffee from certified farms, own development projects, lower energy usage and 100% renewable energy are some focus areas that will strengthen Löfbergs’s position as Europe’s most sustainable coffee group.
