The Coffee Cluster at EXPO 2015 features an exhibition wall, charting the technological and stylistic evolution of one of Italy’s most symbolic products: Italian espresso. Inside the Coffee Cluster, an entire exhibition wall is dedicated to the eight coffee machines which have marked the evolution and history of the sector.
These machines were manufactured by some of the brands which have helped to give Italian espresso the mythical status it enjoys today (La Cimbali, FAEMA, Gaggia, Bezzera). Alongside the machines, a series of historical images will also be displayed, depicting coffee bars and old locales.
Bezzera Moyen, this specimen is the brainchild of the creator of the first patent for espresso coffee machines. Its chrome finish reflects the aesthetics of the time.
La Cimbali Rapida was the first model produced by the famous Milanese brand, and went on to become the first in a long line of successes. Its austere forms are the perfect embodiment of key Rationalist style tenets.
FAEMA Marte, daughter of 1950s American style, this machine is one of the first models to be equipped with lever technology, capable of delivering a perfect espresso with a foamy “crema” on top.
FAEMA E61, marked a turning point in the world of espresso, thanks to its volumetric pump technology
Pitagora, as the only espresso coffee machine to have won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro, the Pitagora machine by La Cimbali was designed by the Castiglioni brothers, and bears witness to the industrialisation of the 1960s
Gaggia Tel 2 boasts a futuristic design; its lines are pleasing and contemporary even today
FAEMA Tronic, with this model, electronic technology made its début. The electronically-programmed dosage system made the operator’s job even easier.
La Cimbali M100, machine is the final result of extensive research, and is the ultimate expression of technology and design, by La Cimbali.
