HAMBURG (Germany) –  Sustainable coffee is increasingly becoming a decisive quality feature – also in the out-of-home market. To meet the growing demands, Tchibo Coffee Service has expanded its portfolio to include Fairtrade-certified Tchibo coffees. With Tchibo Fair Choice, the company is helping to protect nature and improve the living and working conditions of coffee farmers and their families.

The carefully selected range of the best green coffees comes 100 percent from fair trade. The range includes the sustainable varieties: Espresso & Caffè Crema as whole bean as well as filter coffee in the ground variant in practical portion bags.

Sustainability makes the difference

More and more consumers are attaching importance to sustainable coffee. According to a representative survey of 5,000 coffee drinkers conducted by Tchibo together with “Brand eins” and Statista for the Tchibo Coffee Report 2022, around a third of respondents regularly drink fairly grown coffee (32.6 percent). The reason given by 92 percent was that they wanted to support fair wages and good working conditions in the countries where the coffee is grown.

Around 75 percent want to contribute to a sustainable coffee economy and 62.4 percent want to take responsibility for future generations by adopting a sustainable lifestyle.

The Fairtrade seal stands for the highest standards in sustainable coffee. The certification guarantees compliance with social, economic and ecological standards.

By joining Fairtrade cooperatives, smallholders and their families strengthen their organization, improve productivity and infrastructure, and thus achieve a better position on the world market in the long term.

The cooperatives also receive a stable minimum price for their green coffee and a premium for community projects.

Tchibo: convincing brand communication

The issue of sustainability is firmly anchored in Tchibo Coffee Service’s corporate strategy. Based on the annual CSR assessment by the Ecovadis rating platform, the company offers the greatest possible transparency with regard to the origin of its products.

All suppliers have been audited using standardized CSR criteria. This reduces all risks along the supply chain and also strengthens brand communication.

“The issue of sustainability must be taken seriously,” emphasizes Peter Rikowski. “To implement sustainability in the company, it should become an integral part of all processes. The sustainability orientation must be anchored throughout the organization and defined in quantifiable targets. Together with our employees, suppliers and customers, we will continue to work towards a sustainable future.”

Coffee enjoyment without compromise

Whether in the office, in bakeries or gas stations: With Tchibo Fair Choice, customers in the out-of-home market can offer their guests a fair coffee alternative that meets the highest quality standards. The 100 percent Fairtrade-certified coffees are based on popular Tchibo flavor profiles and benefit from decades of expertise in roasting, refining, and aroma-fresh packaging.

Tchibo Fair Choice Espresso Whole Bean in a one-kilogram bag has a velvety, tart taste and captivates with warm hints of dark chocolate. The coffee is suitable for fully automatic coffee machines and espresso machines and, as an “Omniroast” blend, also conjures up delicious espresso, caffè crema, and coffee specialties such as cappuccino or latte macchiato in machines with only one bean container.

Tchibo Fair Choice Caffè Crema Whole Bean is also available in a one-kilogram bag. The product impresses with a full-bodied, balanced flavor profile with a fine hazelnut note and irresistible crema and is also ideally suited for fully automatic coffee machines and espresso machines.

Tchibo Fair Choice filter coffee ground in a practical 70-gram portion bag is a harmoniously mild blend with a fine hint of oats. The coffee is suitable for filter coffee machines and is pre- portioned for a 2-liter brew.
