ENSHI, China – This 3rd edition of the Tea Masters Cup – TMC-international will be hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Foodstuff – CCCFNA- in Enshi, Hubei Province from 25 -27 September 2017. The event will be part of the 7th International Tea Forum, called up in Enshi from 26 to 29 September.
The Tea Masters Cup
The Tea Masters Cup was launched in 2013 by Ramaz Chanyturiya, the Executive Director of the Coffee and Tea Federation of Russia.
Fully aware of the efficient promotion specialty coffee has been deriving for many years from the various coffee professional championships, he has devised the TMC scheme in order to promote fine teas.
The target was to highlight and enhance the knowledge and competence of the tea professionals in the Russian market, where tea has been for centuries the main hot cup.
To note that Russia is also the world’s biggest tea importing market although coffee is steadily gaining ground.
Huge interest
This new competition immediately attracted huge interest and it was therefore decided to open it up worldwide, with the statutes of TMC international registered in Hong Kong in 2015.
Turkey hosted the first international TMC in Istanbul in May 2015, followed by Seoul in S-Korea in June 2016.
Third edition
The 2017 competition’s date and venue have been announced recently: the event will take place in China, the world’s biggest, most ancient , most traditional and most premium tea producer.
The venue will be the Culture Palace in Enshi, Hubei Province, from 25 to 27 September 2017.
This international competition for the tea professionals will be attended by the winners of the national championships, which were held in the past months in the more than 20 markets, who are currently in TMC membership.
Most of them are located in Eastern Europe, where tea is an important beverage, but there is also Turkey, Vietnam, Korea, Singapor. To date the only market in Western Europe which is actively participating is Italy.
Tea Masters Cup Italy
The second Tea Masters Cup Italy (PICTURE) has been successfully run in May in Milano, during the prestigious Tuttofood exhibition by the Italian Tea Association Protea, with its founding President Gabriella Lombardi deeply involved.
France, Spain and Switzerland are on stand by and closely following this proactive tea consumption enhancing development.
