MILAN – ASIC (Association for the Science and Information on Coffee) had originally planned to organize its next 28th biannual conference in June 2020 in Montpellier (France). Because of the worldwide coronavirus outbreak and uncertainties in holding and participating to international public events, the 28th ASIC 2020 Conference on Coffee Science will be postponed by one year to 28 June – 1 July 2021 and will take place in Montpellier SupAgro (France).
“We realize that this change represents drawbacks which we hope most of you will understand” said Astrid Nehlig, President of ASIC in a statement.
“We do hope also that you will agree with our decision guided by caring about the safety and health of all of you.
ASIC has been existing for 54 years already and has organized regularly conferences on coffee science most usually every second year, trying to alternate coffee producing and consuming countries.
This conference represents a unique opportunity to gather specialists from all over the world working on different aspects of coffee science and technology. During the conference, all possible aspects of coffee science will be developed and the participants will be able to hear and share novelties on the different following topics:
- agronomy: genetics, botany, agrotechnology, pests and diseases, agroecology, etc.;
- chemistry: coffee analysis, chemical composition, aroma, etc.;
- technology: green coffee processing, roasting, grinding, extraction, decaffeination, etc.;
- physiological effects: coffee and health;
- packaging, storage, etc.
As the President of ASIC, I am cordially inviting all scientists working in the field of coffee and interested in sharing their research data to presently take good care of themselves and families. Please wait patiently to attend the next 28th ASIC Conference that will be held in Montpellier, France, from 28 of June to 1st of July 2021 which will allow taking advantage of all nice meeting and learning opportunities offered by the event.
