PARIS, France – On Thursday, December 15th, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., the Awards ceremony of the 8th International Contest of “Coffees Roasted at Origin” Avpa-Paris 2022 was held in Brazilian Embassy in Paris and virtually on the canal Youtube Avpa. The more producers will engage in tasting their own products by locally processing them, the better their crops will increase in quality.

Avpa: the objective of excellence

At a certain level of excellence, it is necessary to move beyond physico-chemical criteria to enter the universe of organoleptic subtleties. It is with this objective of excellence in view that the association gather with more and more French roasters such as cafés Coutume or la Brûlerie de l’Escale. We thank them for their participation in our work.

Avpa thanks its traditional partners, Conti machines, Bentwood, and Brita water filtration systems. A special mention for the International Coffee Organization to which the association is particularly grateful. This year, it is with pleasure that was mentioned Brazil, which availed its sumptuous Parisian embassy for the association.

The registered coffees confirmed real exceptional qualities for the greatest pleasure of our jury chaired by Alice Bourdelle. Despite persisting difficulties of samples shipment, this year again the main producing countries were present – 20 countries in total. A small regret on the side of West Africa that may also miss the opportunity of fine coffee. AVPA also regrets that Indonesia or the Philippines have not succeeded in placing their coffees on the stage this year.

Avpa thanks all producers for placing their trust in it. They do so by providing their financial contribution and sending their coffees to the association. Once more Colombia and Peru hold the leading position this year.

They have been joined this year by East African the countries such as Ethiopia and Kenya. Newcomers this year are India and Vietnam. In total, coffees were classified into seven categories. Almost 60% were considered gourmet and 34 of them reached the podium with Avpa Gourmet Gold, Silver or Bronze medals.

To all these producers, Avpa wishes nice holidays and a prosperous 2023 coffee season. In 2023 Avpa will call producers to visit France in a better season since the award ceremony of the 9th contest will take place in June 2023. To access the results, click here.
