LONDON – The British Coffee Association invites to a webinar on 7th September, where they will explore the work being done to help businesses meet the EU’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) requirements.

The EUDR entered into force at the end of June, and gave operators and traders 18 months to implement the new rules – with a longer timescale for small and micro enterprises. The regulations require businesses to trace the origin of their coffee back to the plot of land within which it was produced, and then report this data.

BCA is pleased to be joined by ICE and Oritain, who will discuss their work on this issue

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) are launching the ICE Commodity Traceability Service (ICoT), which is designed to support customers across the cocoa and coffee industries in demonstrating their compliance with the EU regulation. They anticipate launching ICoT in advance of the EUDR entering into application in December 2024.

Oritain’s origin verification services support companies to comply with regulations, including the EUDR, by verifying the origin of products and raw materials. This verification helps to clarify opaque supply chains by providing evidence robust enough to hold up in a court of law, giving consumers confidence that they are buying the genuine article and complying with deforestation regulations.

The British Coffee Association have pulled together resources to assist businesses with understanding the requirements of the regulations, which BCA members can access here.

The webinar will run from 1pm (BST) on Thursday 7th September, and will finish no later than 2.30pm. There will be ample time for a Q&A for webinar attendees.
