MELBOURNE, Australia — MICE welcomes The Cup eXchange (TCX) as a Platinum Sponsor of MICE2019. TCX is Australia’s first truly sustainable exchange system, designed to replace the widespread consumption of single-use items. TCX will be launching at MICE in February.

TCX is a convenient technology-driven system designed to allow everyone to be part of a solution towards a world free of waste. With TCX there is no need to pre-plan, carry around and wash a dirty reusable cup.

Join at tcx.org and scan your phone when you purchase a coffee from a participating café, where it will be served in a 100% sustainable TCX Cup. Drop off the cup at any time that is convenient to a participating café. Think of your mobile phone as the key to your TCX Cup – you never leave your home without it.

For café-owners, TCX provide all the cups and equipment at no cost. TCX Cups are made from 100% Tritan and replicate a paper coffee cup in look and size so they pack and stack in the same way. TCX Cups also ensure no transfer of taste, so the integrity of each coffee’s aroma and flavour is how the barista and roaster intended.

TCX have designed an online inventory system that allows them to take full responsibility for all of their cups ensuring there is zero waste to landfill.

Through their website, TCX are able to track cups in circulation allowing for maximum reuse before they reach end-of- life (4000+ washes in an industrial dishwasher). Should a cup become damaged, once exchanged back at a café, TCX will recover, crush down and re-purpose it into a brand new TCX Cup – a true circular economy solution.

Regarding their launch at MICE, Marty Rowell, CEO of TCX, says that MICE “is a fantastic, globally recognised platform to showcase what TCX can offer to partnering businesses, exhibitors and consumers. A MICE and TCX collaboration will support greater sustainability for businesses and convenience for take-away coffee drinkers”.

Marty says that TCX “believe there is a better way to use and re-use the Earth’s resources that delivers a better customer experience, a better economic model, a better outcome, for our future and future generations.”

For more information on TCX or to recommend a café, visit their website at tcx.org. Be sure to purchase your MICE ticket to witness TCX’s official launch at MICE2019.
