BELFORTE DEL CHIENTI, Italy – Today’s event is the first event of the International Hub for Coffee Research and Innovation, the research network who cooperates to analyse some of the most important topics influencing the quality of coffee and supported by Camerino University and Simonelli Group.
The lecture by Professor Chahan Yeretzian (PICTURE), one of the world’s leading experts in the coffee sector will be followed by a large live international audience, with streaming through the University of Camerino.

The two professors will present and compare their latest research: Prof. Yeretzian with the latest studies on “Nine different extraction methods”, “Kinetic extraction ” and “The Importance of Water” while Professor Vittori will present “Espresso: an important source of health, promoting bioactive molecules”.
Chahan Yeretzian
Professor for Analytical Chemistry, Bioanalytical Chemistry and Diagnostics at the ZHAW – Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland, where he heads the section for Analytical Technologies and the Coffee Excellence Center. Published more than 90 peer reviewed papers and book chapters. His research focuses on the science and technology of coffee and the development of state-of-the-art analytical technologies. In 2010, he initiated the first post-graduate degree on the “Science and Art of Coffee”.

Sauro Vittori
Sauro Vittori is full professor of Food and Drug Analysis. He teachs two courses, Drug Analysis and Dietetic Products, in the School of Pharmacy at University of Camerino.
He has served and is serving in a number of boards, with different duties: – President of the Marche Section of Italian Chemical Society; – Vicepresident of Marche Agrifood Cluster; – Board member of a number of Italian scientific societies: Food Chemistry, Nutraceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, etc.
His research activities are mainly in the following areas:
- a) espresso coffee composition;
- b) active packaging for enhancing shelf life of fresh food products;
- c) bioactive components of food and medicinal plants;
- d) effect on health of legumes and legume constituents;
- e) analytical methods for assessing health and doping of horses.
He is responsible for an international project for setting up a Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Dschang, in Cameroon.
He is author of about 200 scientific papers on peer reviewed international journals, plus 3 patents and 4 book chapters.
