SINGAPORE – Cafés are a huge part of the local food scene — even though quite a number of them start up and close down alarmingly quickly — but they’re not exactly the cheapest place to spend a weekend afternoon. Especially if you’re the type who likes to go café-hopping.
So the coffee-obsessed team behind KopiPass — a $30 pass that gets you a complimentary coffee, tea or espresso-based drink at 30 cafes across the island — decided to get to work on a mobile app version of the pass, which drew 3,000 cafe lovers after its launch late last year.
The Kickstarter campaign for ‘Singapore’s 1st National Cafe Hopping Trail’, which begins today, will offer more than double the number of cafes, with the inclusion of names like Toby’s Estate, Tanuki Raw, The Laneway Market, and The Reading Room.
This time, you’ll have to purchase an annual membership for $60 — it allows you to redeem one complimentary drink each (worth up to $6) at more than 60 participating cafes, which works out to less than a dollar per cuppa.
There will also be the occasional F&B promo, and if you ever need suggestions on where to eat, scroll through its listings of over 400 cafes across the island.
The KopiPass mobile app is set to be launched on Sept 29, and will be available for both iOS and Android phones.
