TRIESTE, Italy – The 8th TriestEspresso Expo (20-22 October 2016, Trieste, Italy) once again has proven to be the most important biennial B2B exhibition dedicated to Espresso coffee production chain and established a new partnership with the National Association of Journalists thus becoming a point of reference for training journalists on everything about coffee.
On October 20, TriestEspresso’s opening day, in the Conference Hall (Hall 26) of Trieste’s Porto Vecchio, from 2 to 6 p.m. there will be the conference “The coffee production sector as told by the media: the case of Trieste Capital of Coffee”.
It will not be all about theory, though: the event also features coffee tastings to help journalists understand the real features of a good Espresso. The partnership with the Italian Association of Journalists is also a major step ahead for TriestEspresso, as it brings added value to the coffee sector. Thanks to this event the journalists can approach our sector with a better knowledge and awareness of its size, structure and essence.
The coffee sector as told by the media: the case of Trieste Capital of Coffee
The event has been organised in partnership between the Friuli Venezia Giulia Journalists Association, Triestespresso Expo and Trieste Coffee Festival, and it will offer the participants the opportunity to fully understand the meaning of Trieste Capital of Coffee, the registered trademark of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Trieste Municipality and Trieste Chamber of Commerce because Trieste is the sole Italian city that houses all the coffee production stages: coffee comes to Trieste as raw green beans and goes through all the stages to end up as a nice cup of Espresso in a bar.
The coffee sector includes not only top quality brands known all over the world but also impressive research and development work, solid traditions and a true “coffee culture” that binds Trieste and coffee together forever. Trieste is also where coffee’s DNA was analysed and studied in depth for the first time, hence the event will explore also the scientific aspects of coffee in addition with the business and aesthetic ones.
Other events at TriestEspresso Expo
In addition to Espresso Italiano Champion and Barista Bonanza, the“mini courses” and the tasting & testing by Fipe, the “Tips for the bar of your dreams” by Università del caffè di Illycaffè, there will be many meetings and forums with the coffee sector experts and the Trieste Coffee Festival.
Barista Bonanza
Speciality Coffee Association Europe chose Triestespresso as the ideal scenario for Barista Bonanza, its information/training programme developed with the aim to promote and support the best coffee professionals. The programme includes demonstrations and presentations by some of the best baristas in the world. Barista Bonanza will be developed on the Coffee Stage, featuring workshops and seminars on the differences between the various blends and on the market trends in this type of business as well as the tasting area where the baristas will use the different blends to offer the participants the best espressos in the world.
Espresso Italiano Champion
In addition to the partnerships with the most renowned coffee sector associations, from International Coffee Organization (ICO) to Speciality Coffee Association Europe (SCAE) the 2016 edition of TriestEspresso will feature a top event: the semi-finals and finals of Espresso Italiano Champion 2016, organised by the Istituto Nazionale Espresso Italiano (Inei), the organisation that promotes and protects the Italian Espresso all over the world. Triestespresso will therefore be a meeting and competition ground for the top espresso professionals which will test their skills in the first two days of the event, further enlivening Triestespresso.
Other events taking place at Triestespresso Expo. There will be several other coffee-themed initiatives during Triestespresso (from October 20 to 22) and in the days before it, including competitions, cultural events and focus on specific themes. There will also be local initiatives connecting all the coffee-related points of interest in Trieste, including those usually not open for visiting.
Trieste Coffee Festival starts in the days before TriestEspresso expo and continues in the same days. This event, organised by Associazione Caffè Trieste, aims at promoting and supporting coffee culture, to raise awareness on the relationship between Trieste and coffee and increase knowledge of the coffee making processes and industry. The Festival will feature several events open to everyone in Trieste’s centre. Events will include tasting, special opening of venues usually closed or restricted to professionals and other cultural events.
