TriestEspresso Expo, the leading exhibition for the espresso industry, is in full swing

TRIESTE, Italy – A record-breaking edition of TriestEspresso Expo opened yesterday in the old port of Trieste, Italy. The biennial B2B international exhibition, specialising in the espresso supply chain, features this year 202 exhibitors from 20 countries. From 12,000 to 13,000 visitors are expected during this three-day event.

The exhibition is organised by Aries – Trieste Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Caffè Trieste association.

The Opening Seminar “TriestEspresso expo and the opportunities offered by the exclusive coffee production chain”, held yesterday morning, saw the participation of the executive director of the International Coffee organization Robério Oliveira Silva.

Other speakers were Fabrizio Polojaz (President Associazione Caffè Trieste), August Parengkuan (Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Italy), Juan Mesa Zuleta (Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia in Italy) and the Mayor of the Colombian city of Manizales Jose Octavio Cardona Leon.

Other events at TriestEspresso Expo

In addition to Espresso Italiano Champion and Barista Bonanza, the“mini courses” and the tasting & testing by Fipe, the “Tips for the bar of your dreams” by Università del caffè di Illycaffè, there will be many meetings and forums with the coffee sector experts and the Trieste Coffee Festival.

Barista Bonanza Speciality Coffee Association Europe chose Triestespresso as the ideal scenario for Barista Bonanza, its information/training programme developed with the aim to promote and support the best coffee professionals.

The programme includes demonstrations and presentations by some of the best baristas in the world. Barista Bonanza will be developed on the Coffee Stage, featuring workshopsand seminars on the differences between the various blends and on the market trends in this type of business as well as the tasting area where the baristas will use the different blends to offer the participants the best espressos in the world.

Espresso Italiano Champion

In addition to the partnershipswith the most renowned coffee sector associations, from International Coffee Organization (ICO) to Speciality Coffee Association Europe (SCAE) the 2016 edition of Triestespresso will feature a top event: the semi-finals and finals of Espresso Italiano Champion 2016, organised by the Istituto Nazionale Espresso Italiano (Inei), the organisation that promotes and protects the Italian Espresso all over the world.

There will be several other coffee-themed initiatives during Triestespresso and in the days before it, including competitions, cultural events and focus on specific themes.

Trieste Coffee Festival starts in the days before Triestexpo and continues in the same days.

This event, organised by Associazione Caffè Trieste, aims at promoting and supporting coffee culture,to raise awareness on the relationship between Trieste and coffee and increase knowledge of the coffee making processes and industry.

The Festival will feature several events open to everyone in Trieste’s centre. Events will include tasting, special opening of venues usually closed or restricted to professionals and other cultural events.
