SEATTLE, U.S. — trücup low-acid coffee is making a commitment to coffee drinkers to reduce plastic consumption for years to come. trücup is introducing 100 percent biodegradable single serve cups: the lid, ring, and mesh are all composed of Polylactic Acid which is made of corn starch with no plastic at all.

“In 2018, 59 billion coffee capsules were produced, which creates a ton of waste,” says RJ Selfridge, coffee expert at trücup low-acid coffee. “We don’t feel that’s right. We are thrilled to be one of the first to introduce an all-biodegradable cup, just in time for Earth Day. We want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.”

trücup is a third category of coffee – regular, decaf and now low-acid – that uses a natural steam process to remove acids that are harmful to the stomach, while leaving in all the caffeine, flavor and aroma.

With 25 million Americans suffering from acid reflux or GERD, trücup aims to bring coffee back into the lives of those suffering from stomach issues as well as those looking for a healthier, low-acid alternative. Consumers can now be confident that they’re drinking a cup of coffee that’s easy on their stomach and easier on the environment.

trücup is passionate about our ocean and keeping it healthy for future generations and will make a monthly donation to Ocean Conservancy at our discretion.

trücup biodegradable cups will be available online at www.trucup.com and on Amazon.com.
