More than 30 employees at local treat provider, Mondelēz International have helped to raise over £30,000 for the British Paralympic Association after participating in a nine-day bike ride.
From Saturday 6th September to Sunday 14th September, the team from the global snack provider took part in Deloitte Ride Across Britain – a 969 mile bike ride from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’ Groats in Scotland.
They helped to raise much-needed funds for the British Paralympic Association, the charity responsible for taking the British team to compete at the Paralympic Games which works hard to promote Paralympic and disability sport across the country.
Andrew Bowles, business development and engineering manager for Mondelēz International who took part in the event, said: “The ride was definitely one of the toughest challenges I have ever taken part in but to raise so much for the association definitely made it worthwhile.
“The British Paralympic Association continues to play a part in taking the legacy of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and sharing it with the nation and Mondelēz International is proud to be able to continue their support of the British Paralympic Association through to the 2016 Rio Games.”
10 of the riders from the global snack company completed the entire course while others joined them for the daily stages. Mondelēz International also showed its support to the team with funding from its cash match initiative which supports local and national charities that employees are passionate about.
Jane Jones, director of marketing and communications from the British Paralympic Association, added: “We’re extremely grateful for all of the support we have received from the staff at Mondelēz International. Their efforts will go a long way in supporting the association and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
