Bruce H. Goldsmith, president of Baronet Coffee of Hartford, has assumed the top spot at the National Coffee Association of U.S.A., the chief trade group for the U.S. coffee industry.

As chairman of the NCA board of directors, he will lead the NCA in its role as advocate, educator and service provider to a membership that represents over 90 percent of U.S. coffee commerce, the group said in a release.

“I am privileged to take on this responsibility as the NCA enters an exciting new era in its honored history,” Goldsmith said in the release.

“The continued momentum of the organization’s 2011 Centennial, propelled by a visionary new president and CEO, will throttle up the NCA as we pursue new directions in relevance, impact and value as a dynamic, inclusive and forward-looking organization that serves all whose livelihoods are connected to coffee.”

Goldsmith has served on the NCA board of directors for six years, most recently as vice chairman from 2012 to 2014.

During his more than ten years of active association participation, he has taken on a variety of leadership roles on NCA committees, task forces and strategic planning forums, including chairman of the Board-level Performance and Operations Management Committee.

He has brought to the NCA more than 28 years of experience in the coffee industry at Baronet and Procter & Gamble, the company said.
