MILAN – After a two-year hiatus, the community driven US Coffee Championship preliminary events have returned. The 2023 Preliminary Host dates and locations have been selected, spanning across 13 different cities in the US, making competitions accessible to many unique communities across the nation.
US Coffee Championship Preliminary competitions are community-driven events hosted entirely by the SCA USA Chapter and US Competitions Committees alongside community volunteers, allowing community members the chance to host an official competition as an accessible, low stakes platform to introduce any newcomer to competitions.
Select rankings for each competition will move on to compete in the 2023 Qualifiers, happening this winter.

US Competition Committee Chair, Lauren Lathrop, states, “After missing two years of preliminary events due to the pandemic, we are so excited to see these member-driven events returning to coffee communities around the country. Prelims are the best way for new competitors, judges, and volunteers to get involved with coffee competitions and gain valuable experience in their roles.
We are so grateful to everyone who applied to host a prelim and look forward to a fun and successful preliminary season. We hope to see all of our friends at an event close to them this summer and fall!”
Preliminary events will be held at the selected hosts locations during the dates provided. All Preliminary hosts are responsible for event coordination and planning to offer a unique community driven event in their local community. Event details and updates will be available via the individual Host’s websites and at uscoffeechampsionships.org.
