BELOIT, Wis. – Since 2006, DaVinci Gourmet has supported Coffee Kids projects all over the world and recently reached one million dollars in donations.
To showcase this eight-year partnership, DaVinci Gourmet presented a check to Coffee Kids at the 2014 Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) event in Seattle, Washington.
Coffee Kids is an international non-profit organization that works with coffee-farming communities in Latin America to create programs of education, health care, economic diversification and food security to aid the small-scale farmer.
These efforts allow coffee farmers to reduce their dependence on the unpredictable coffee market and meet their communities’ most pressing needs.
“At DaVinci Gourmet, we are committed to supporting the endeavors of coffee farmers and their communities, which makes Coffee Kids the perfect charity partner for us,” said Marc Simon, senior brand manager for Kerry Beverage Brands. “After eight years of working with Coffee Kids, we’re thrilled to have reached this milestone together.”
Through donating a portion of all sales to Coffee Kids, the total financial support from DaVinci Gourmet is equivalent to providing 4,500 participants with microloans, giving 5,400 children the opportunity to continue education or allowing 6,000 women to gain access to training, tools, seeds and a low-pressure irrigation system to start an organic vegetable garden.
“Partners like DaVinci Gourmet make it possible for us at Coffee Kids to take a unique project-based approach of working with communities to transform their local vision into reality,” said Rebecca Singer, executive director of Coffee Kids. “We’re so grateful that DaVinci Gourmet has committed to being our advocate and look forward to working with them in the future.”
In addition to financial contributions, DaVinci Gourmet is also dedicated to raising awareness of Coffee Kids to specialty coffee retailers and consumers. The organization is prominently featured on bottle labels, and many resources are available to operators for promoting Coffee Kids to their patrons.
