SCOTTSDALE – Scramble – A Breakfast Joint in Phoenix and Scottsdale has always been proud of its commitment to buy from local farmers and artisan purveyors. And starting Thursday, June 26, it’s putting the spotlight on them as it launches its “Think Global – Eat Local” monthly series.
It will include:
- An interactive event; June features Patrick O’Malley of Espresso Italia on June 26
- A monthly special or specials made from the featured local product; the June special is a horchata latte for $4.29 or Irish latte for $3.89, served hot or cold.
Patrick O’Malley of Espresso Italia in Tempe kicks off the inaugural event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Scramble’s Scottsdale location. O’Malley is a roast master and tea sommelier, and is only one of only 150 people in the world to earn a diploma from the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe.
He’s also the only authorized trainer in the United States for the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe and the founder of the International Barista & Coffee Academy USA in Tempe.
O’Malley will teach guests about coffee, the roasting process, fair trade and more, and will demonstrate chocolate latte art. He’ll also discuss teas and their origins. Read more about Espresso Italia here: http://espressoitalia-usa.com/shop/about.
The $25 ticket price includes an Espresso Italia cappuccino (including the saucer and cup). Participants will learn how to make their own coffee and practice creating their own chocolate latte art. Pastries and a VIP gift bag worth $25 including coffee beans, loose teas, and a few other goodies are included in the ticket price.
Though June’s “Think Global – Eat Local” promotion is at both the Phoenix and Scottsdale Scramble locations, O’Malley will appear only in Scottsdale. The special lattes will be offered at both locations
