A new study has named the top 11 sustainability labels in the Netherlands, with UTZ receiving the highest score out of all the labels that cover cocoa, coffee and tea.
90 labels and food brands were ranked on their sustainability requirements, transparency and control processes.
Other labels listed in the top 11 alongside UTZ included the Marine Stewardship Council, Aquaculture Stewardship Council, Fairtrade, the Rainforest Alliance and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.
“Together with our partners all over the world, we work hard to make sure UTZ is a sign of trust for consumers, so we are very proud to be featured in the top 11 sustainability labels,” said Han de Groot. “This research will really help consumers learn more about the sustainability of their favorite products.”
The study was carried out by the consumer advice organization Milieu Centraal, which provides independent information to help people make sustainable choices, and commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, with the aim to bring back the number of consumer labels in the Netherlands.
