LUTON, UK – Vauxhall has revealed MOKKA COFFE-E, a one-off concept designed to provide electric vehicle (EV) drivers with the perfect coffee break. A study by the brand reveals that buying a coffee shapes the journeys of EV drivers, with three quarters purposefully choosing charge points where you can buy one. Eighty per cent of Vauxhall owners are coffee drinkers with 64% enjoying at least one cup a day* – the MOKKA COFFE-E ensures drivers have access to their caffeine fix regardless of where they choose to charge.

The MOKKA COFFE-E is designed to “provide drivers with barista-standard coffee even when they are miles away from their favourite coffee shop.” The concept features two coffee machines – ground and pod – both using Mokka inspired premium coffee blends. A milk steamer, coffee grinder, knock box, and fridge are all integrated, ensuring drivers have everything they need to make the perfect coffee. A bespoke pull-out drawer houses barista quality tools, including scales to measure a precise quantity of beans, a Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) tool to ensure a smooth extraction flow of coffee, and an espresso tamper to evenly pack the grounds, all of which enhance the flavour of brewing the perfect coffee.

The coffee grinder, mini fridge and knock box all sit within a bespoke cabinet, concealed by two Alcantara® covered doors with stainless steel door handles and hand stitched design echoing the interior details of the Mokka Electric. Within the base of the unit is a pull-out table to provide a flat surface to assemble drinks. When not in use, the table stows away securely into the base of the unit and just below that live two hand-crafted British-made Fox umbrellas to account for our unpredictable weather. The fully integrated MOKKA COFFE-E has everything sit neatly within the 310-litre boot of the Mokka Electric.

Alongside the MOKKA COFFE-E concept, Vauxhall has curated a range of coffee blends inspired by the Mokka Electric. To do so, Vauxhall worked with award-winning, British artisanal coffee roasters, Cafeology, specialists in sourcing the finest beans through sustainable and ethical long-term partnerships. The MOKKA COFFE-E range contains a series of six blends all roasted and packaged in Sheffield, inspired by the colour palette of Mokka Electric.

All the Mokka inspired blends are available for drivers to try in the MOKKA COFFE-E. The Iconic Green coffee blend has a creamy and rich flavour with chocolate tones. Voltaic Blue has a sweet and vibrant fruity flavour with notes of blueberry and passionfruit. Contrast Grey is a balanced caramel flavoured espresso with a herbal, earthy body. Arctic White is a medium roast with plenty of molasses sweetness. Cosmic Red has hints of stone fruit acidity, and hazelnut notes throughout. Carbon Black is a delicate coffee with notes of nectarine and blueberry, best enjoyed black.

For those who enjoy the efficiency of a ‘pod coffee’, MOKKA COFFE-E stores reuseable pods in the pull-out drawer, ready for immediate use.

The Vauxhall MOKKA COFFE-E features both pods and ground coffee machines, to ensure that no matter how remote the charge point, all EV drivers can craft and enjoy their preferred coffee.

James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall, said: “Three quarters of EV drivers plan their trips around their desire for coffee so we decided to create the MOKKA COFFE-E, the perfect accompaniment for a charging break – delivering Vauxhall drivers with barista quality coffee wherever they choose to charge”.

The UK is a nation of coffee drinkers, with 95 million cups drunk in a day, and Vauxhall owners are no exception to this, with 64% drinking at least one cup a day. Whether that’s a latte, flat white, cappuccino, or espresso, the Mokka concept has all the tools necessary to craft that perfect coffee – wherever the Mokka’s new 54kWh battery might take you.”

Powered by a new, larger capacity 54kWh battery and a 115kW (156hp) electric motor, the Mokka Electric Long Range can achieve up to 252 miles (WLTP) between charges. Supporting up to 100kW DC rapid charging, an 0-80% charge takes just 30 minutes to complete, the perfect amount of time to enjoy a cup of coffee. Alongside the Long-Range variant, the popular 136PS powertrain remains available, with its 50kWh battery offering a range of up to 209 miles (WLTP).

With Vauxhall’s innovative five-year PCP offer, the recently announced Mokka Electric Griffin is cheaper per month with an equal deposit contribution compared to the equivalent petrol model. This price does not include the savings that most EV drivers enjoy including a lower energy cost per mile (especially when charging on a specific EV tariff at home), lower maintenance costs and an exemption from Vehicle Excise Duty and congestion charging at the present time. Across Vauxhall’s wider line-up, customers can enjoy equivalent monthly payments between fully electric and petrol versions of New Corsa, Mokka and Astra.

By the end of 2024, Vauxhall will offer a fully electric version of every car and van model in its line-up.
