BRUSSELS – The newly published report provides the latest in-depth look into the European vending and Office Coffee Service (OCS) industry and reveals the current trends observed across Europe.

The new report has refined the methodology, involved more vending operator interviews, and added some new data sources resulting in several modifications to historical statistics.

The objective is also to incorporate more of the OCS market which makes up an increasing segment of the industry, and as such this new report is not designed to be read as a continuation of previous report versions.

The report, based on 2015 data, reveals that several markets that have seen a number of years of decline have either started to grow or at least remained stable, which is very encouraging news for the industry, while also acknowledging that certain markets with particular economic circumstances (e.g. Greece, Russia) are still struggling.

The report incorporates data over a ten year period including the vending turnover of various countries, fieldbase and sales volumes (vends), and a detailed breakdown of the hot beverage machine composition – for the first time table top hot beverage machines are split into automatic and semi-automatic categories.

Furthermore the report also provides some insights into the key legislative trends which are impacting, or likely to impact the industry.

Some of the interesting statistics revealed by this latest report include:

• The overall fieldbase (number of machines) is now 3.8 million (0.3% increase since 2014);

• Total market revenue in 2015 was €14.6 billion;

• There are around 130 Europeans per vending machine;

• Over 80% of European machines are located in the workplace;

• In Europe, vending machines sell over 90 million food and drink items every day.

This is the 4th edition of the market report on the industry provided by the EVA, and consists of a European summary with an overview of 21 countries, as well as separate more detailed individual country market reports.

The EVA Members have free and full access to both the European Summary and the individual country profiles, and can download them from the EVA Members only webpage.
