MILAN – The two giant Swiss companies have teamed up to create the knife which is made from 24 recycled Nespresso capsules.

What do a pocket knife and coffee have in common?

Nothing, really. But two companies have joined forces to change that with a limited-edition pocket knife made from “very special aluminium”.

Swiss Army Knife giant Victorinox has used recycled Nespresso capsules to create the “warm caramel brown” knife casing.

Coffee pods are popular for their convenience, but not so much their environmental impact. Nespresso has now joined forces with Australia Post to launch a new recycling incentive to encourage consumers to post back their empty pods.

The colour is based on the coffee leader’s Livanto blend.

The collaboration is not that much of a stretch, given both companies’ commitment to sustainability.

It is not the first time Nespresso and Victorinox have teamed up. A purple knife based on the Arpeggio Grand Cru was released last year as part of the 25th anniversary of Nespresso’s aluminium capsule recycling program.

About 24 capsules are used for each knife. The Pioneer Nespresso Livanto Swiss Army Knife will be available from July.
