Jean-Claude Horlacher wouldn’t call his performance style “music,” per se. The Swiss artist, who goes by the stage name Eisentanz, experiments with different materials and objects to create different sounds and rhythms.
Eisentanz utilizes sewage pipes, coffee mugs, what he calls “metal body drums” and other self-developed instruments that are each connected to a microphone during his performance.
The word Eisentanz translates to “iron dance” in English, which Horlacher finds especially fitting because of the unique objects he wears and plays live.
Eisentanz performed at a bar called Service Industry as part of the 35 Denton music festival last weekend, which was actually his first time to visit the States. Check out his compelling style in this video.
