The Central Highlands, Vietnam’s main coffee areas, are likely to receive rain this weekend, next week, and in the first few days of April, according to MDA Weather Services.
Rainfall will ease concerns that dry weather could reduce the next harvest. “Amounts are not expected to be heavy through next week, and will not likely end drought conditions,” Donald Keeney, a senior agricultural meteorologist at Gaithersburg, Maryland-based MDA, said as reported by Bloomberg.
“However, the rains in the 11-15 day period will be a bit more notable, which will likely result in some more impressive improvements.”
The dry season in the region normally lasts from November well into April; the rainy season from May to October.
The long-lasting rainy season and plentiful natural water sources have created the ideal conditions for the region’s coffee trees to flourish.
