VIETNAM – Coffee exports plunged in November

HANOI – Vietnam exported 80,372 tons of coffee worth of US$ 143,347,399 in November and 1,167,596 tons worth of $ 2,468,070,213 in the first 11 months of 2013, down by 25.33 per cent in volume and 26.15 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures.

The average coffee export price in the first 11 months of this year was at $ 2,113.8 per ton. Germany was the country’s biggest coffee export market in the period with 161,689 tons worth of $ 323,893,335, down by 14.96 per cent in volume and 17.69 per cent in value year – on – year.

The U.S ranked second with 126,225 tons worth of $ 271,782,988, down by 28 per cent in volume and 32.4 per cent in value.

In the first 11 months of this year, the country’s export of coffee to almost all market saw a decrease.

The export to Switzerland decreased by 96 per cent; to Italy – down by 94 per cent; to Singapore – down by 83.4 per cent; to Indonesia – down by 74.29 per cent; to Egypt – down by 63.28 per cent; to Thailand – down by 66.13 per cent. However, the export of coffee to Australia; India; Russia and Britain increased by 26.76 per cent; 6.32 per cent; 8.96 per cent; and 5.38 per cent, respectively.
