HO CHI MINH CITY – American doughnut company Dunkin’ Donuts will open its first store in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Friday 22 Nov, report local media quoting a spokesman for the company. The coffee and baked goods shop will join the many international fast food chains on Nguyen Duc Canh Street in Phu My Hung, District 7.
The franchisee is the Vietnam Food Beverages Services Limited Company (VFBS) of the Imex Pan Pacific Corporation, chaired by Mr. Jonathan Hanh Nguyen.
Not disclosing the cost of the franchise because of its commitments with VFBS but according to Mr. John Vurughese, Global Vice President of Dunkin’ Brands Group, the criteria for choosing a partner of Dunkin are very strict.
Apart from financial ability, the partner must have experience in the management and operation of the restaurant chain.
Dunkin’ Brands is making a push in Asia, with thousands of new outlets planned for China and more locations underway in Vietnam.
Dunkin’ Donuts is in the top 10 food and beverage brands in America.
In other news, Dunkin’ Donuts announced Tuesday the signing of a multi-unit store development agreement with new franchise group, JP Foods, LLC, to develop a dozen new restaurants throughout Memphis, Tennessee.
The first restaurant is expected to open in 2015 and the remainder by 2020.
