HANOI – Vietnam shipped 97,300 tonnes of coffee (i.e. 1.62 million 60-kg bags) in September, slightly down (-0.4%) from the previous month, Vietnam customs reported on Wednesday.
The export volume is below traders’ forecasts of between 100,000 and 120,000 tonnes, but more or less in line the government’s initial estimate of 100,000 tonnes.
This brings Vietnam’s total coffee exports in coffee year 2013/2014 to 1.66 million tonnes, or a 17.7% increase on the previous year, according to government statistics.
