MILAN – The winning lots of the Cup of Excellence Brazil 2020 were sold at auction for an average price of US$14.5 per pound: the highest ever in the history of the competition. The winning lots are the top 30 coffees that scored above an 87 by the Cup of Excellence International Jury.

These coffees have each been cupped a minimum of five different times during the cupping process. The coffee is packaged in 30kg boxes containing two 15kg vacuum-packed bags.

The two lots of this year’s winner Luiz Ricardo Bozzi Pimenta de Sousa, 20, coffee producer in Venda Nova do Imigrante (Espírito Santo) fetched a price of US $ 40 and US $ 38.9 per pound respectively.

The total collection was R $ 1,864,740.60 (US $ 370,142.44). According to BSCA, this was the best level in reais achieved in the Cup of Excellence auction in the country. The complete result can be seen below.

BSCA director Vanusia Nogueira celebrated the results achieved and highlighted that the quality and sustainability of Brazilian coffees make partners and customers loyal all over the world. According to her, despite the delicate international economic scenario, the auction reached records.

“I believe that these levels were only reached by the degree of knowledge that the main global buyers acquire about the entire production process of Brazilian coffee and by the possibility of Brazil growing coffee with the potential to serve all tastes,” she commented.
