LONDON – World coffee exports fell 5.3% in April from a year earlier, according to the latest ICO data. Monthly shipments dropped to 9.5 million bags from over 10 million in 2016. Exports of all coffee groups were down on year.
Among Arabicas, Brazilian Naturals reported the biggest drop (-9%) followed by Colombian Milds (-5.4%) and Other Milds (-1.4%). Robustas were down 5.4%.
Vietnam (-6.9%) was the leading exporter for the month outpacing Brazil (-13.5%). Colombia (+0.5%) was followed closely by Honduras (+31%).
